Could The 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS Be The Sweet Spot Of The Range? - CarScoops

The Porsche Cayenne and Macan are among the best SUVs on the market and Doug DeMuro recently had the opportunity to test out what could be the sweet spot of Porsche’s SUV lineup: the Cayenne GTS.

Unveiled in 2021 guise just six weeks ago, the latest Cayenne GTS features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 454 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. Porsche’s decision to use a V8 is interesting for a couple of reasons.

For starters, the previous Cayenne GTS had a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 and, in this age of downsizing, it is very rare to see an automaker actually increase the displacement and number of cylinders on a new model. It’s also worth mentioning that the first-generation Cayenne GTS also used a V8, although it was a naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter unit.

Porsche says the new Cayenne GTS will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds with the available Sport Chrono pack and hit a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

The Cayenne GTS is further differentiated from other variants because it comes standard with the Sport Design package that adds 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, black exterior accents, and a sports exhaust system.

Moreover, the GTS comes fitted with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as well as Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, rear-axle steering, and a three-chamber air suspension system.
