Since coronavirus and the subsequent state-mandated shutdowns of large scale in-person events took away the chance to gorge ourselves on sweet and savory treats at county fairs across Southern California, OC Fair in Costa Mesa is offering a little taste of the season with a special Fair Food Drive-Thru event.
Frequent fair patrons can get their fix starting Aug. 28 as food vendors including Cathy’s Cookies, Dippin’ Dots, Hawaiian Chicken Bowl and Hot Dog on a Stick make select menu items available for the drive-thru experience.
Food items include turkey legs, cookie sundaes ($12), hot dogs and cheese dogs on a stick ($6), dragon fruit pineapple lemonade ($5), Hawaiian orange and teriyaki bowls ($10-$11) and more.
The Fair Food Drive-Thru is open 12-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 12-6 p.m. on Sundays.
Guests will enter through Gate 1 off of Fair Drive and be directed towards order or passing lanes. All guests must remain in their vehicles and wear masks. Vendor staff will come to the vehicles to take orders and receive payment. Credit card payments are preferred and no walk-ups are allowed. All food orders are to-go only and there will be no parking available at the fairgrounds.
