Sweet T's gelato shop moves to White Bluff - Tennessean

A one-of-a-kind “taste of Italy” in Middle Tennessee has a new home.

Sweet T’s, which originally opened in Kingston Springs, is bringing its homemade gelato and other treats to White Bluff.

Theresa Chandler is Italian, and during trips to Sicily, she loved the gelato and wanted to bring that taste to Tennessee, sourced with ingredients from Italy. Now, she runs Sweet T’s with her husband, Steven.

Gelato is churned slower, making it “more dense (and) creamier…more silky (and) more decadent,” than ice cream, which has to have a certain percentage of fat, Chandler previously explained in 2018.

She added that there are also alternative options available, including dairy-free and sugar-free.

Chandler explained that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing the lease at the former Kingston Springs location no longer made sense for Sweet T’s. Although she misses and loves Kingston Springs, she said “we’ve been well-received” in White Bluff.

“People in White Bluff have been wonderful to us,” she said.

Sweet T's opened it's doors in Dickson County on Aug. 24.

On her third day at the new White Bluff location, Chandler listed some of the many gelato flavors customers can try at Sweet T’s: arctic lemon sorbet, key lime pie, chocolate-covered cherries, cappuccino crunch, peach, salted caramel, blueberry cheesecake and raspberry cheesecake, to name a few.

Customers can also participate in the Sweet T’s “mug club,” and see their own mugs hanging on the wall, among other perks.

Sweet T’s also hosts events, including bingo, bunco, trivia and more.

The next “exciting” venture for Sweet T’s, Chandler announced, is working with a local company to make and sell candles in the shop’s gelato flavors. There will also be a chance for customers to take treats to-go from a frozen freezer section.

In the coming fall, customers can try soups, courtesy of Chandler’s daughter, Danielle, who serves as the business's manager and attended the Culinary Institute of New York.

Although Sweet T’s used to offer sandwiches in Kingston Springs, Chandler said the business is making changes to its menu to avoid competition with new, neighboring businesses, including Pappy's Pizza.

“We want to be a supplement,” Chandler said. “We want to be part of what everybody else is doing.”
