SUPERIOR, WI -- The new 'Sweet Streets' program for kids in the Superior area will kick off on Saturday.
The campaign is designed to reward kids who are being safe while riding their bikes.
Program leaders hope this will inspire more kids to want to wear their helmets when taking their bikes for a spin.
Superior Police Officers will give them a token to be cashed in for an ice-cream cone at Sweeden Sweets on Tower Ave.
Daniel Klarmer, owner of Sweeden Sweets shared how proud he was to take part in the program.
"The kids enjoy it because they can come in and get their free cone," said Klarmer.
"It's something that the kids can be proud of, that they get their free ice-cream cone."
On Saturday, free helmets are being offered to the public. People can stop by from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Superior Public Library.
