The annual Sweet Corn Daze in Rockwell City has been cancelled this year due to concerns regarding the potential spread of COVID-19. Organizers announced last week that the event, which was established to celebrate the community’s motto of “The Golden Buckle on the Corn Belt,” will not be held as originally planned on Saturday, Aug. 1. The 2020 event would have been the 11th consecutive year Sweet Corn Daze had been hosted in downtown Rockwell City. The festival generally includes a communitywide picnic, live entertainment, corn-related activities for all ages and much more. While disappointed the celebration had to be cancelled, organizers have already set their sights on next year’s event, which is scheduled for Aug. 7, 2021.
