LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Jazz Sweet will not be suspended for Nebraska volleyball’s season opener on Friday.

The senior outside was cited for a DUI back in October. Police say Sweet blew a .266 at the time, which is above the .08 legal limit.

On Tuesday, John Cook said Sweet had responded well to her mistake. He said it was a good reminder of the mental struggles student-athletes have been facing during the pandemic.

“She’s done everything that she’s been required to do,” Cook said. “She’s worked really hard. She’s had some great discussions about what she’s learned through all of that.”

Sweet played in all 33 matches in 2019 and averaged 2.77 kills and 0.69 blocks per set while hitting .279.

Nebraska opens the season on Friday at Indiana. The match begins at 5:00 p.m. and will be streamed on BTN Plus.
