I have been raving about Batch Ice Cream for a few years now. The brand’s dark chocolate ice cream is by far the best chocolate ice cream I have ever had. A few months ago the brand opened a pop-up shop in the Longmeadow Shops and I have been frequenting it pretty regularly to eat some of my classic favorites as well as some seasonal options including an Oreo peppermint stick flavor which I had in ice cream, milk shake and frozen hot chocolate form.
I remained in denial about the pop-up status of the shop until the owners recently announced that they are in fact closing up shop on Jan. 30 while a permanent location is prepared for them in another spot om the Longmeadow Shops for the spring.
While I’m saddened that the shop is closing for a while there are still a few days to check it out if you haven’t yet and show support for a local business offering an absolutely incredible product.
Not only are the ice cream and milk shakes great, but the hot chocolate is some of the best I’ve ever had. The ice cream is creamy and flavorful, the milk shakes are thick, but not so thick they are impossible to drink and the hot chocolate is rich and sweet and enhanced by a homemade whipped cream that makes all your problems seem far away.

For those of you who don’t have time to make it to the shop before it closes on Jan. 30, there are still plenty of opportunities to try the Batch brand at a Big Y near you. The prepackaged pint versions of this ice cream won’t give you the experience of being in the shop, but the quality and flavor of the ice cream remains the same.

I give the ice cream five scoops because everything I have tried there I have loved. I also have to give it five scoops for customer service. The owners Dave and Deb are an absolute delight and they hired an incredible staff that is always welcoming and ready to offer up ice cream suggestions. A special shout out goes to Charlotte who is a milk shake connoisseur and a lovely person. I’m sad to see the shop close, but look forward to stalking its Instagram page @batchicecream for updates on the Batch Ice Cream truck locations and news about their spring re-opening in the Longmeadow Shops.
