Bitter blast: Frigid weekend temps grip Hudson Valley; tracking pair of midweek storms - News 12 Westchester

gemblongsa.blogspot.com

Frigid temperatures are gripping the Hudson Valley this weekend, and News 12 meteorologists are tracking a pair of storms for midweek -- with a small hit of snow to start, followed by the chance for a bigger wallop.

Following clear and cold overnight hours with lows around 18 degrees and wind chills in the single-digits, Sunday will see mostly sunny skies. Expect a cold breeze to stick around for the day. Highs Sunday will be around 34 degrees, with wind chills again making it feel colder.

To kick off the work week on Monday, we can expect increasing clouds and highs around 37 degrees.

Then the first of two storms we are tracking will move in Tuesday. Expect mostly cloudy skies to start the day, followed by snow developing by the afternoon.

We can expect a coating to an inch or so of snow, with some sleet and rain possibly mixing in further south. Some areas in the Hudson Valley could see 3 inches of snow.

The timing of the storm could make for a slippery commute for Tuesday evening, as well as the Wednesday morning rush.

The next storm is taking aim for Thursday, and while it's still early, it has the potential to pack a bigger shot of snow -- bringing the chance for some significant accumulations. The storm's exact timing and track will directly impact any totals.

We could also see gusty winds with Thursday's storm.

News 12 meteorologists will be constantly monitoring the models for the latest forecast information, so stay with News 12 for up-to-the-minute updates.
