High pressure has kept us sunny and dry today, but it is also helping bring in some bitter cold air across the Two Virginias. Strong northwesterly flow is allowing cold Canadian air to push into our viewing area.
We are in for another cold night, with temperatures dropping down into the teens and low 20s. A slight northwesterly breeze will make it feel a little colder than what it actually is.
Be sure to bundle up and cover up your skin if you are going to be outside. Also, PLEASE bring in pets as well.
Sunday will start out dry and with a few clouds, but we will see increasing clouds throughout the day. Scattered showers will develop into the Sunday afternoon and evening. Not a washout, but you definitely want to have the rain gear handy into the second half of the day.
Most of the area will see just plain rain on Sunday, but we could see a light wintry mix along some of our highest elevations, especially in areas above 3500ft. Temperatures will be warmer Sunday, with highs in the upper 30s and low-mid 40s.
Showers will become more isolated into Sunday night, with temperatures dipping into the low-mid 30s.
We are tracking a better chance for precipitation into Monday, mainly into the late morning and afternoon hours. This will most likely be widespread rain for the viewing area. Temperatures Monday will climb into the low-mid 40s, with lows staying in the 40s for Monday night.
We are tracking much warmer temperatures through mid week of next week. How warm? Tune into WVVA News at 6 and 11 on NBC for a full look at your 10-day forecast.
