What is a cake? Flour, sugar and some eggs? For some, a cake provides a moment to be normal... A break from life-saving medical treatments or to mark the end of them. Dan Scheneman introduces us to an organization has been serving up thousands of sweet treats for sick kids for nearly a decade.
icing smiles was born out of a desire to serve Tracy Quisenberry, a tax expert by trade, baked cakes for her own kids and wanted to doom. Or our mission is not really providing cake. It's providing a temporary escape, a nonprofit that provides custom celebration cakes for critically ill Children nationwide. Since 2010 icing smiles has delivered over 21,000 cakes. With the help of volunteers they call sugar angels. And if something as simple as a cake, you know, flour, butter, eggs, sugar can can brighten their day.
