Chase Young has not yet played a single snap in the NFL, but is he already trending toward having a bust in Canton down the line?

As crazy as that may sound, it's exactly what ESPN's Bill Barnwell thinks about Young's career. When projecting future Hall of Fame members on current NFL teams, using four categories -- Lock, Likely, In the running and Work to do -- Barnwell included three Washington Football Team players. Adrian Peterson was a lock at 100 percent, which comes as no surprise. Safety Landon Collins was also mentioned as a 'work to do' candidate on the basis of his three Pro Bowls and stellar 2016 season.

While Collins may be a somewhat surprising name to see on the list, it's Young, the third player in the group, who sticks out simply because his NFL career has nothing to it at this point in time. For Barnwell, however, Young becoming the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is enough accreditation to throw him into the consideration.

Barnwell stated that five of the last 40 defensive players to be selected with that pick are now Hall of Famers. Based on the math alone, Young has a 12.5 percent chance of being a part of football immortality. Barnwell also noted that he expects that number to increase as Julius Peppers and Von Miller become eligible.

Though Barnwell doesn't touch on any other factors that could help Young make it to Canton, there is more to his potential than his draft status. The defensive end put up numbers in college that very few others have, and his combination of size, strength, speed and technique make him an offensive lineman's worst nightmare. Additionally, if the offseason is any indication of his work ethic, the numerous insane workout sessions aren't going anywhere.

Predicting someone to become a member of the Hall of Fame before he even puts on the full pads and helmet is quite the take, but Barnwell's opinion isn't *too* far off from the hype others have put on Young. Coaches, teammates, experts and even LeBron James have all stated how they expect big things from the rookie's NFL career.

Carrying the hopes of the franchise and now the forecast of being a Hall of Famer is a lot of weight upon one's shoulders. But, if anyone can do it, it's probably the guy who was seen benching so much weight it looked photoshopped.
