Historic Season
The Shoremen are making just their second NCAA Tournament appearance and the first since 1973. Washington, who has won seven straight matches, are in the Sweet 16 for the first time ever. The two victories last weekend were the first NCAA Tournament victories in the program's history, which dates back to 1946. The Shoremen have not lost since a 1-0 result at Johns Hopkins on October 9th. The team is unbeaten over its last eight outings and the 15 victories are a program high. In addition, Washington is 5-3 when facing a top-20 team this season.

Washington Knocks Off St. Lawrence & Montclair State; Advance to Sweet 16
Fifth-year senior forward Greg Adams broke a scoreless tie in the 72nd minute and senior midfielder Eric Gwadz tacked on the insurance goal with 1:41 left as visiting Washington College downed host Montclair State, 2-0, on Sunday evening at MSU Soccer Park in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Adams finally broke the tie at the 71:40 mark as he received a throw-in pass from freshman defender Emanuel Kouadio and his shot from the top of the box found the upper right corner of the net to make it 1-0.
Gwadz would give Washington the insurance goal to make it 2-0 with 1:41 left as his shot from the left side found the lower right corner. The Shoremen avenged a 3-1 loss to Montclair State on September 5 in Chestertown.

The Shoremen blanked the St. Lawrence Saints, 2-0, at Montclair State Soccer Park on Saturday evening in the opening round. Fifth-year senior James Strine, a First Team All-Conference selection this season, put in a corner kick with just under four minutes left in the opening half to secure the historic win for Washington College. Strine bent in a shot that eluded goalie Ben Woelfinger, who was screened by a couple of Shoremen on the play. Washington College added another tally early in the second half as Adams took a through ball from junior midfielder Alex Coster and beat Woelfinger in the 54th minute.

About Tufts
Head coach Kyle Dezotell's Jumbos won their first-round game at home against New England College 5-1 last Saturday with senior Ian Daly scoring three goals. The Jumbos then went 13 rounds into a shootout to advance past Stevens (11-10) in the second round on Sunday following a scoreless 110 minutes. Freshman goalie Erik Lauta saved the Ducks' 11th penalty kick that would have given the visitors the win. Then Daly and Travis Van Brewer scored before Stevens hit the post on the final shot moving Tufts through.

The Jumbos are defending back-to-back NCAA Championships from 2018 and 2019, and have won four overall since 2016. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) champions have compiled a 29-5-2 record now in their 10th tournament appearance.

Shoremen Win First-Ever Centennial Conference Championship
Washington claimed their first Centennial Conference championship with a 2-0 victory over Gettysburg on Sunday, November 7th at Johns Hopkins. Tournament MVP Gwadz had a goal and an assist with Strine providing the only goal Washington College would need. Sophomore Anthony Pinto registered the shutout in goal. The Maroon & White reached the championship game with a thrilling 1-0 OT win versus then No. 4 ranked Franklin & Marshall on November 5th at Washington College. Gwadz scored just two minutes into the first extra session off a feed from Adams

Strine has produced 26 points (3rd in C.C.) on ten goals and six assists while Adams has 24 points (T-4th) with nine goals and six assists. The dynamic duo has combined for seven game-winning goals.
