“B” Sweet Cupcakes is celebrating 10 years in downtown Loveland this month.
The business opened during Night on the Town on April 8, 2011, and will celebrate its milestone with live music and special deals starting at 4 p.m. April 9, also a Night on the Town. The celebration will continue 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 10.
The daughter/mother team of Dana and Sue Brungardt started “B” Sweet out of their home in August 2010 and opened their bakery and storefront location at 425 E. Fourth St. in Loveland the following April, according to a press release.
At the time, many businesses were closing, and there were empty storefronts in the downtown area, the release said. “B” Sweet Cupcakes focused on affordable gourmet cupcakes made from scratch, and it has expanded over the years.
The shop now offers more than 150 flavors of cupcakes and serves ice cream, Original Ice Cream Cupcakes — a cupcake with a layer of ice cream in the middle — and other baked goods such as cupcake-sized cheesecakes (on Fridays), brownies, muffins, scones, cookies, sweet bread loaves, mini pies and more.
These items are available by special order, or occasionally in house, and also can be found on “B” Sweet’s mini food truck, which has been operating around Northern Colorado since May 2019.
The bakery has expanded its cake options — originally just for weddings — and now makes round cakes in 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch sizes for birthdays and other occasions and cupcake cakes in many designs.
With the help of their customers, the Brungardts survived the pandemic year of 2020 by taking donations from the community and using those donations to bake and deliver cupcakes to nurses, doctors and hospital and clinic staffers, living center staff members and residents, and fire, ambulance and police/sheriff’s department personnel, according to the release.
With this effort, “B” Sweet delivered more than 3,500 cupcakes with “cupcake drops” around Northern Colorado, the release said.
