PITMAN, N.J. – Eliza Sweet of the TCNJ softball team was chosen as NJAC Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Sweet threw a perfect game in TCNJ's game one victory over NJCU. The senior right-hander was almost untouchable, as she recorded 13 out of the 15 outs via strikeout and didn't walk any batters for a total of two balls put in play all game. The perfect game was the first complete no-hitter of her career. She pitched four innings of a combined no-hitter in 2020.
Earlier in the week, Sweet threw six shutout innings in the win over Rowan. She allowed only three hits while striking out six batters and not walking any.
For the week, Sweet went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work. She has pitched to a 4-2 record and a 2.44 ERA this year with 35 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched. Sweet has been a master in control, as she has allowed only two walks all season.
This marks the third time in her career that Sweet has been named NJAC Pitcher of the Week. For her career, Sweet is 24-9 with a 2.44 ERA and has tallied 142 strikeouts.
Sweet and the 19th-ranked Lions are back in action at Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday.
