Snow totals this evening generally range from 2 to 7 inches, with Chili in Clark County topping the list of reports we've received so far with 6.5" snow. Menomonie and Cumberland each have 5 inch reports, and Elk Creek, Roberts, Eau Claire, Cameron, and Chetek are at or above 4 inches.
Temperatures continue to drop, but remain mild this evening. However, they will fall fast tonight and brutal cold is in the forecast for at least the next week.
The snow has tapered off to just flurries for the highway 53 corridor and places to the west, but impacts remain.
Many roads were still snow covered around 5pm, but areas to the west where the snow has stopped have begun to improve.
If you haven't yet, it's now time to clear your driveways, sidewalks, porches, etc. because the that brutal air will make it not only more miserable to shovel, but make the snow freeze and harder to remove.
Temps tonight will bottom out in the single digits, with a chance at going negative especially northwest of Eau Claire. Highs tomorrow will be around 10 at best, and then each night for the next week looks to be well below zero.
Some low temperatures between -15 and -25 are likely a few nights, with an outside chance of some -30 temps in Western Wisconsin, and this doesn't even include the wind chill.
Highs will be near or below zero Saturday through the middle of next week, but even after that it looks like arctic air will remain in place.
Remember to bundle up and have extra warm clothing and blankets in your car.
