Almost every brewery offers up some special swag, and all offer gift cards, which just might be the best, and most flexible beer gift of all.

Completely adorable, these mini glass mug club ornaments are just smaller versions of the regular mug club glassware that you’ll find at Witch’s Hat in South Lyon. According to Witch’s Hat co-owner Erin Cottongim, they are “all handblown by Luis Sanchez, a local artist. We also have matching ornament and full sized sets.” Look for these very special gifts here, in the online ordering store. You won’t see them on the brewery’s website for now. If you are looking to snuggle up the season, look no further than the sherpa blanket from Cognition Brewing Company. Located in the U.P., just a few miles outside of Marquette in Ishpeming, the Cog knows a thing or two about keeping warm. Owner Jay Clancey told us that these cozy blankets “are actually made at a shop in Wisconsin that is owned by one of my new partners. He uses a patented process to get the color deep into the blankets. Pretty neat.” Sounds like the perfect gift for a Michigan winter, in either peninsula.

Two of our favorites are the growler lamp (please see photo above) and the many amazing hats. A really good brewery hat can make the difference between a ho-hum Michigan winter, and a great one. Bell’s might have the biggest online shop out of any Michigan brewery, there is literally something for everyone here. They’ve got general Bell’s merchandise, and then a dizzying amount of stuff dedicated to their flagship beers, from Oberon to Two Hearted, with Official showing up as well. Fun items to gift include beach towels, dog leashes and collars, hockey jerseys, cornhole bags, sunglasses, a 50 quart Kong cooler, an Adirondack chair, hammocks, and tap handles for your home bar. We particularly like the Celebrate Diversity series. Also, Bell’s has lots of equipment and ingredients for the home brewer in your life, including kits to clone some of their most popular beers, like Double Two Hearted.

A sturdy, beautiful way to enjoy some delicious brews from Broad Leaf Local Beer in Grand Rapids are these handmade ceramic steins. The brewery gets them from Grayling Ceramics, and you’ll have to head to the brewery to pick them up. According to Broad Leaf’s Jonathan Ward, the steins are “going fast.” Looking to try Broad Leaf beer? The brewery delivers their beer weekly through Biermi across the state for a low fee.

Beyond the typical stickers, hats, and t-shirts, we also sell local maple syrup that we also use in one of our beers, as well as local honey, whitefish and locally made frozen pizzas from one of our food trucks. One of Michigan’s newest breweries is Black Calder, a new venture between Terry Rostic and Jamaal Ewing. The brewery is the first black-owned brewery in Michigan. “Though it’s a part of our story, it’s not our only story,” said Rostic, 37, in an MLive story. “Our goal is to make great freakin’ beer and just add to the industry.”
While the brewery currently does not have a brick and mortar location, they are brewing beer on a collaborative basis with other breweries across the state. You can currently order their beer from Biermi, or pick it up at Broad Leaf Local Beer in Grand Rapids. They are also selling merchandise on their website, including these sweatshirts with their sweet logo on them. Look for lots more from this brewery in the future.
