Most farm crews around the Old Mission Peninsula have not started shaking cherries yet, but likely will in the next few days. Or at least, they’ll do a test run and see how the cherries come off. Sometimes they’ll shake for a day and then hold off for another day or two.
However! Sweet cherries are showing up at many Old Mission Peninsula farm stands, including these beauties in the above photo at Johnson Farms Fruit Stand, on Center Road about a half mile north of Mapleton on the right. Hop over and like their Facebook page to stay up-to-date on what’s available at the farm stand.

I’ve also seen cherries at Edmondson’s Cherry Connection (near the intersection of Center Road and Island View Road), Between the Bays – Warren Orchards (two stands – on Center Road across from Fire Station 2; and on Island View Road), and Sullivan’s Fruit Stand (Center Road about a quarter mile north of Mapleton on the left).
You can also pick your own cherries at Santucci’s (Center Road on the left before you get to Bonobo Winery heading north), Third Coast Fruit Co. (Wunsches) at their Wilson Road orchard, and Little Fox Farm (Center Road, about a half-mile past the Smokey Hollow intersection heading north). I think Edmondson’s also offers u-pick cherries, but will confirm that.
I’m likely missing some, so feel free to add yours in the comments section below and I’ll add them into the story. I’m also working on an OMP Farm Stand list, so stay tuned for that.
