Sweet Briar is pleased to welcome Tetrachord Arabic Music Ensemble on Sunday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. The performance will take place in the Mills Chapel and is free and open to the public.

The Tetrachord Ensemble is comprised of musician-scholars with decades of experience performing, researching and teaching Middle Eastern musical styles. The ensemble will present a program highlighting instrumental and vocal repertoire from the eastern Mediterranean and North Africa.

Ensemble members are Sanam Analouei (percussion), Jonathan Glasser (violin), Anne Rasmussen (ùd, vocal) and Sweet Briar’s own Professor Anne Elise Thomas (qanun, vocal).

“We are colleagues, artists and friends with decades of history performing together. The COVID-19 pandemic its and associated restrictions on gathering has been particularly difficult for musicians, and for all of us who enjoy live music. We can’t wait to perform for the Sweet Briar community,” says Anne Elise.

Contact Anne Elise with any questions about this event at athomas@sbc.edu.
