NEW ULM — We all scream for ice cream, but the day before Halloween, Jersey’s Sweet Spot ice cream truck will give trick or treaters more to scream about.
Jersey’s Sweet Spot is hosted at the Trunk or Treat event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at 18848 Highway 14, New Ulm.
Jersey’s Sweet Spot owner Kelly Munce said they held a similar event last year and it went over very well, with over 250 kids attending a trunk or treat in the country. Each year, several organizations hold a special trunk or treat events. Instead of going door to door, children travel to parked cars with trunks full of candy. Usually, these events are set up in a parking lot, but Munce said their event is unique because it’s out in the countryside.
With the extra space, this trunk or treat can make room for additional spooky inflatables and other Halloween decorations. This trunk or treat will feature at least 14 vehicles handing out candy.
Each of the different trunks will have its own Halloween theme. Greater Minnesota Family Services will have a sponsored trunk with a farm theme. Munce said another trunk will have a hunting theme. The different vehicles will be spread out on the site and the trick or treaters will need to navigate a haunted trail to reach each candy station.
Munce said part of the trail will resemble the yellow brick road from Wizard of Oz, with a few other spooky inspirations.
The trunk or treat event is free to the public. Jersey’s Sweet Ice Cream truck will also be open and the end of the haunted trail.
The event starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. A haunted clown ice cream truck inflatable is already up to mark the location. Anyone driving west on Highway 14 is sure to spot the spooky truck.
