It’s been well over one year now since Sweet Magnolias premiered on Netflix. Since that shocking cliffhanger left us dumbfounded ever since, we have been anxiously awaiting the Sweet Magnolias season 2 release date. Well, we’re going to have to keep waiting.
The breakout hit series was renewed for a second season quickly after its remarkable showing on the Netflix top 10, and it’s safe to say fans will ride out the Serenity journey with the Sweet Magnolias as long as the chips and salsa and sangria hold out.
Although we were looking forward to Sweet Magnolias season 2 premiering in 2021, the pandemic delayed production on the follow-up season. May 2021 came and went without a new season, but cameras started rolling by the summertime for an upcoming release.
Unfortunately, when Netflix announced it complete list of new release movies and shows for October 2021, Sweet Magnolias season 2 wasn’t included. Even though we knew not to expect it so soon, it merely confirms another month worth of waiting.
When is Sweet Magnolias season 2 coming out?
Currently, Netflix hasn’t revealed the release date for the second season of Sweet Magnolias, but the season will be coming in 2022.
As of September 2021, filming has wrapped on the second season, which means the upcoming 10 episodes have entered post-production. This process generally takes about six months, which would bring the premiere to about February 2022.
Right now, our current best guess for the season 2 release date is around the Valentine’s Day holiday or early spring 2022. Of course, things can shift in either direction, but we don’t expect Netflix to keep fans waiting very long in 2022.
Until Sweet Magnolias returns next year, there are plenty of comforting romantic comedy-drama series to watch on Netflix, such as Emily in Paris season 2 in December 2021 and Firefly Lane, which will also be back with season 2 in 2022.
