She told us, "Alongside all of the things that we were met with in season one, there's just a whole new slew of interesting [storylines] that come with season three. Or season two—look at me, I'm manifesting a season three already!"
We've got our fingers crossed for that third season, because according Swisher, the end of season two is an ideal setup for a renewal. After noting the surprise twist at the end of "Storms and Rainbows," she added, "We end season two again with a lot of drama."
In case you need a refresher, the first season's final episode ended with a devastating car crash that left Kyle unconscious. It was revealed that he wasn't the only person in the car, and as it turns out, Swisher was just as clueless about the passenger's identity until the last minute. She said, "I didn't want to know who was in the car until the last possible minute, because I just hate to hold things over people's heads. But obviously I know who's in the car. Even though my husband doesn't."
Swisher also noted that Sheryl J. Anderson, the mastermind behind Sweet Magnolias, has a knack for creating "soapy, delicious storylines," so if Netflix does renew it for a third season, we can rest assured that there will be even bigger plot twists to come.
Sweet Magnolias wasn't the only thing Swisher chatted with us about. While discussing her first-ever Hallmark movie, As Luck Would Have It, she revealed that it was her late grandmother—an avid Hallmark enthusiast—who inspired her to take on the role. She said, "I started reading [the script] and it was about this woman who was coming to a crossroads in her life, and she had this connection to Ireland because of her grandmother. There was this whole storyline within the larger love story of the movie that had everything to do with her grandmother, and I thought, 'If this isn't a sign, I don't know what is.'"
In case you've yet to see the teaser, the charming film follows Lindsey (Swisher), a young woman who travels to Ireland and enters a famous matchmaking festival to win herself a dream guy.
We know what we'll be watching tonight.
