Jason Momoa may be the name audiences are most familiar with heading into Netflix’s new action movie, Sweet Girl. But chances are, you’ll walk away from the whole experience wondering: Who is Isabela Merced, previously known as Isabela Moner?
Directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza, Sweet Girl stars Momoa as a grieving man who seeks revenge on the shady pharmaceutical company responsible for the death of his wife. However, when his teenage daughter Rachel (Merced) gets dragged into his plan, she ends up showing off some formidable fighting skills of her own.
While you may not have been familiar with the actress before you saw her punching her way through Sweet Girl, she already has a stacked Hollywood resumé. Here’s what to know about Merced, from her previous roles to her Instagram.
WHO IS ISABELA MERCED?
Merced is a 20-year-old actress hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. Although her real name is Isabela Moner, she decided to change her stage name to Isabela Merced in 2019, in order to honor her late grandmother.
She’s also quite the singer, and released her debut EP, The Better Half of Me, in May 2020.
WHAT ELSE HAS ISABELA MERCED STARRED IN PREVIOUSLY?
Merced had her breakout role CJ in the Nickelodeon show 100 Things to Do Before High School, which she starred in from 2014 to 2016. She also voiced Kate in Nickelodeon’s animated show Dora and Friends: Into the City!, and later played Dora herself in the 2019 film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
Additionally, you can see her in movies like Transformers: The Last Night, Instant Family, Let It Snow, and Sicario: Day of Soldado.
She also recently voiced Lucky in the animated film Spirit: Untamed.
