GREENCASTLE, PA – The 2021 Walla Walla Sweet Onion season is almost here! Keystone Fruit Marketing, BB #:103769 a division of Progressive Produce, BB #:113613 will start packing their famously sweet Walla Walla River Sweet Onions around June 15th and run until the third week in August.
“We had a mild winter and excellent growing conditions, so we expect a bigger crop than 2020 with good yields,” said Dan Borer, Sales Manager.
Although they’re available for only a short time during the summer, Walla Walla Sweet Onions have incredible recognition giving retailers plenty of opportunities to capture additional sales.
“Walla Walla Sweet Onions are known for their incredibly sweet and mild flavor, making them the perfect addition to everyone’s favorite summertime foods. They’re great for burgers, sausage, sandwiches, salads, and grilling,” said M. Andrea Scroggs, Sales and Marketing Manager.
“Cross merchandising in the meat department, or with tomatoes, salads, peppers, and squash, helps increase sales.”
Be on the lookout for our updated packaging. Walla Walla River Sweet Onions recently went through a rebrand that is reflective of the evolution of the grower group. We kept the tradition and history alive, while adding rich bold colors and a fresh take on the elements of the original logo. You will still recognize the mountains and river of the beautiful Walla Walla valley where our sweet onions are harvested by hand.
And don’t forget about our Walla Walla Rosé Sweet Onions! These beautiful onions have the coloring of a red onion, with the sweetness of a sweet onion. Walla Walla Rosé Sweet Onions will be available from early July through August.
Keystone is proud to supply its customers with high-quality sweet onions 365 days of the year. Scroggs adds, “Our program has something for everyone…Because life should be this sweet!”
