Reuven Rivlin is frustrated. With less than four months to go until his seven-year presidential term ends, he knows by now he will not have the legacy he desired. Rivlin set out to create an “Israeli dialogue” that could be shared by what he has called “the tribes” into which Israeli society is divided. Instead, he will leave the President’s Residence in central Jerusalem with Israel more divided and polarized than ever.
