FLINT TOWNSHIP, MI —A southern-based leading fast casual chain is planning to open its doors in Genesee County with handcrafted sandwiches, always-fresh salads, giant stuffed spuds, and famous sweet tea.

A grand opening for McAlister’s Deli, 4050 Miller Road, in Flint Township is set to take place Monday, June 14 with a ribbon cutting ceremony including members of the Flint and Genesee Group.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, McAlister’s Deli is known for its genuine hospitality and home to handcrafted sandwiches and eats including giant spuds, a ginormous baked potato with a variety of toppings.

The black angus roast beef spud features black angus roast beef, red onion, cheddar-jack, and au jus. The chipotle chicken and bacon spud has grilled chicken, bacon, chipotle ranch and green onion and customers can choose to have a plain spud with no toppings or one loaded with vegetables.

Other menu offerings include salads, a famous sweet tea, soups and desserts. To see a full menu, visit here.

The first 100 customers on grand opening day will be given a tumbler and a voucher to receive free sweet tea for a year, according to a McAlister’s Deli news release.

A dine-in only purchase is required to qualify. The restaurant will also offer additional fun giveaways on opening day, per the news release.

Jennifer Rigterink, general manager for the Flint Township store, said the tea is made and prepared specially with real cane sugar, fresh orange Pekoe black tea leaves and poured over ice.

The deli also offers unique options for customers to order and get their food.

When customers enter the business, they can take a seat and order their meal via their phone by using the business’ app. Once placed, it’ll be brought out to the table and employees will provide a wait service throughout the meal.

Customers can also place an order online and pick it up from either inside the deli or can go through the drive-thru, which is only available to pick up orders made online.

The drive-thru is not the typical operation where customers are accustomed to placing an order then picking it up. The business has also partnered with third-party online food ordering and delivery companies to offer meal delivery.

“We’re really big on getting to know our customers, making it feel like their home away from home, so when they come in, we a lot of times when it’s a person that comes in we know their order, we know what they like and we just really want to make them feel welcome,” Rigterink said, noting the inviting attitude is has been coined McAlister’s hospitality.

The restaurant has hired around 50 employees to help run the business and plan to add more workers to the team. Those interested in a job with the deli can learn more here.
