Liverpool star feeling ‘bitter’ about current situation - Rush The Kop

A Liverpool star is feeling bitter.

Football is carrying on but nothing really feels the same, not without fans. As England heads into the second lockdown of the COVID-19 crisis, professional sport is carrying on.

That means Jurgen Klopp’s men will toil on while Anfield lies dormant; asleep. The Reds will continue to swarm over opposition and they’ll continue to attack the league, but as the weeks turn into months and the months crawl by, they’ll do it without the roar of the crowd.

It was hard enough watching Liverpool lift the Premier League title with an empty Kop. What will it feel like if they do it twice in a row?

For some players, that is leaving them feeling a little bit empty. We’ve seen unrealistic scorelines, uncharacteristic mistakes and heard commentators apologise for more industrial language than they can shake a stick at.

We’re all sick of COVID and lockdown and Boris Johnson and we’re all just waiting for it to end. Diogo Jota is feeling ‘bitter’ about it all, and how can you disagree with the Portuguese star?

Imagine signing for Liverpool, being sold on the back of the songs that we all sing and the atmosphere of Anfield and those famous European nights and then never being able to experience any of it? We’d all be bitter.

The Echo has reported that the former Wolves man can’t wait to hear the roar and feel the atmosphere for the first time, and is a little bit mad that he hasn’t been able to already.

“When I first signed at Anfield, I was asked what my feeling was and I said for it to be perfect, I had to play in a full stadium to have that even more special feeling.

“It feels bitter not being able to feel the atmosphere of Anfield.”

Imagine the reception Jota would be getting after scoring seven goals in 10 games? The place would be absolutely pumping. Instead of taking place online, the debate about Roberto Firmino vs Jota would be taking place on the stands.

Hopefully we can get back as soon as possible, even at reduced capacity, because it’s just not the same.
